Short description
(English)

METAS is a participant in 3 of the 4 technical Work Packages (WP) of this project, and is WP leader of WP1 entitled "High Pressure Hydrogen Flow Metering Standards".
The project is coordinated by the PTB. METAS' NMI partners are CESAME (F), JV (N), NEL (UK), PTB (D) and VSL (NL). Two universities (Bochum and Ljubljana) and several industrial partners (EP-E, DNV, Maximator) are part of the consortium active in the work packages in which METAS participates.

Project aims
(English)

The aims of WP1 is the development of a hydrogen traceability chain up to 1000 bar based on Critical Flow Venturi Nozzles (CFVNs), which entails designing and building of nozzles and nozzle holders, and characterizing and testing these nozzles under high pressure.

The aim of WP2 is to assess the discharge coefficients on CFVN using alternative fluids by comparing the Reynolds equivalence, the dimensional characterization, and the discharge coefficient of the CFVN.

The aim of WP4 is to develop transfer standards and methods for the SI-traceable measurement of gas and liquefied hydrogen flows. METAS is active in developing primary standards for calibrating CFVN with hydrogen up to 4 kg/h, and for the calibration of the CFVN with hydrogen.
