The CCP project aims to develop the concept of a regional energy system, integrating renewable energy sources (RES) generation, storage and energy conversion for local commercial, private or transit transportation, and for local residential and business uses: locally generated power to charge battery driven electric vehicles (BEV) and storing surplus electric power by use of different energy storage technologies for diverse future energy demands. Additionally, a CCP could buffer power consumption peaks and support peak-shaving or grid stabilisation due to possible negative effects of simultaneous fast charging of BEV by private, commercial and transit traffic during prime hours. In order to identify, evaluate and select optimal locations for CCPs, and to determine the most cost efficient technology mix and optimal sizing of CCP components, detailed forecasts of energy demands for different types of energy usages and types of users are required for defined geographical areas.
