In practice, it is often unclear which methods are suitable for prospecting/exploration in a geothermal project and with what certainty the results can be quantified. The aim of this project is to develop a method and a software tool to assess the exploration risk for the federal administration, funding agencies and investors and to propose methods to minimize the risks. The results are to be presented in a comprehensible form.

Dans la pratique, il est souvent difficile de savoir quelles méthodes sont appropriées pour la prospection/exploration dans le cadre d'un projet géothermique et avec quelle certitude les résultats doivent être quantifiés. L'objectif de ce projet est de développer une méthode et une racine logicielle permettant d'évaluer le risque de découverte pour l'administration fédérale, les agences de promotion et les investisseurs, et de proposer des méthodes pour minimiser les risques. Les résultats seront présentés sous une forme compréhensible.

In der Praxis ist es häufig unklar, welche Methoden bei einem Geothermievorhaben für die Prospektion/Exploration geeignet sind, und mit welcher Sicherheit die Resultate zu quantifizieren sind. Ziel dieses Projektes ist die Entwicklung einer Methode und eines Software-Toots, um für die Bundesverwaltung, Förderagenturen und Investoren das Fündigkeitsrisiko zu bewerten und Methoden vorzuschlagen, um die Risiken zu minimeren. Die Ergebnisse sollen in verständlicher Form dargebolen werden.

Als Teil des Verbundprojektes SYSEXPL beschäftigte sich das Projekt REX mit der Risikobewertung von Prospektionsverfahren bei der Exploration von Geothermieprojekten. Die Motivation des Projektes war es, dass Prospektionsmethoden hinsichtlich ihrem Senkungspotential des Nichtfündigkeitsrisikos bewertet werden. Dies unterstützt Investoren, Subventionsgeber, Projektanten und andere beteiligte Parteien dabei, zu bewerten, ob ein Prospektionsprogramm sinnvoll bez. dessen Kosten-Nutzen-Effizienz genügend ist. Dazu wurden zwei Softwaretool entwickelt, die bei der Planung der Prospektion die Verfahren im Hinblick auf Kosten und Nutzen hin untersuchen. Das REX-Tool, eines der beiden entwickelten Softwaretools, kann die Potentialmethoden der Projektpartner einbeziehen, aber auch die Inklusion anderer Verfahren möglich machen. Die beiden entwickelten Tools ermöglichen es, Prospektionskampagnen sowie deren Methoden auf ihre Sensitivität und Spezifität hin zu untersuchen, diese Erkenntnisse zusammen mit Experteneinschätzungen in die Beurteilung von Projektanträgen einfliessen zu lassen und Anträge auf ihre Kosten-Nutzen-Effizienz hin zu untersuchen, so können mit dem Risk Assessment Tool (RAT), dem zweiten entwickelten Softwaretool, Prospektionskampagnen diesbezüglich qualitativ bewertet werden.

As part of the joint project SYSEXPL, the REX project dealt with the risk assessment of prospecting methods in the exploration of geothermal projects. The motivation of the project was that prospecting methods are assessed in terms of their potential to reduce the risk of non-feasibility. This helps investors, subsidy providers, project developers and other parties involved to assess whether a prospecting programme is reasonable in terms of its cost-benefit efficiency. For this purpose, two software tools have been developed to analyse the procedures in terms of costs and benefits during the planning of the prospection. The REX tool, one of the two software tools developed, can incorporate the potential methods of the project partners, but can also make the inclusion of other methods possible. The two developed tools make it possible to examine prospecting campaigns as well as their methods in terms of their sensitivity and specificity, to incorporate these findings together with expert assessments into the evaluation of project applications and to examine applications in terms of their cost-benefit efficiency, so prospecting campaigns can be qualitatively assessed in this respect with the Risk Assessment Tool (RAT), the second software tool developed.

Dans le cadre du projet collaboratif SYSEXPL, le projet REX s'est penché sur l'évaluation des risques des méthodes de prospection lors de l'exploration de projets géothermiques. La motivation du projet était que les méthodes de prospection soient évaluées en fonction de leur potentiel de réduction du risque de non-découverte. Cela aide les investisseurs, les bailleurs de fonds, les promoteurs et les autres parties concernées à évaluer la pertinence d'un programme de prospection et son efficacité en termes de coûts et de bénéfices. Deux outils logiciels ont été développés à cet effet, qui analysent les procédures en termes de coûts et d'avantages lors de la planification de la prospection. L'outil REX, l'un des deux outils logiciels développés, peut inclure les méthodes potentielles des partenaires du projet, mais aussi permettre l'inclusion d'autres méthodes.
