Short description
(German)
Macedonia is well on the way to a functioning market economy, as most of the required legislation and institutions have in principle been put in place. But economic growth has not created sufficient numbers of jobs and has not been inclusive of youth, women and rural areas. Private sector development with a focus on further development of a social market-based economy that creates income and job opportunities was therefore included in the Swiss Cooperation Strategy for Macedonia 2013-2016. This study proposes a new programme in that domain, with the following objective: More working age women and men, in particular the young, are engaged in sustainable, decent employment or self-employment and/or earning higher incomes.
