The Review of the SDC Bangladesh Markets-for-the Poor Portfolio was mandated by the Swiss Cooperation Office/Swiss Embassy in Dhaka in spring 2012 as a contribution to the reflection and drafting process around the strategic framework for Swiss development cooperation with Bangladesh for the period of 2013-2017. The study was conducted by a team of Swiss and Bangladeshi experts and focused on challenges and potentials of rural market development in Bangladesh and their implications for SDC as a development partner engaged in this area. The review also assessed the approaches applied by Swiss-funded interventions and made recommendations for a strategic focus in a new programming cycle.
