The project Improved Livelihoods for Poor Households in Northern Bangladesh (usually re-ferred to as “Samriddhi”), phase 3, is being implemented by Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation on behalf of SDC from August 2010 through April 2014 with a total budget of CHF 8.35 million. The Midterm Review was conducted by a team of Swiss and Bangladeshi experts in July 2012 upon mandate by the Swiss Cooperation Office/Swiss Embassy in Dhaka. The review team has assessed the project’s relevance and performance from the perspective of results achievement and project management as entirely satisfactory. The results reported by the project team based on a compelling logical framework with clear indicators are judged to be credible. The claimed outcomes in the fields of value chain development and community organization are assessed to be credible. The project is found to make an important contribution to the overall achievement of the Employment and Income portfolio under the Swiss Cooperation Strategy Bangladesh. As requested by the Swiss Cooperation Office/Swiss Embassy, the review team also offers recommendations for a possible re-focusing of the project under the planned follow-up phase.
