The study on the Safe Water Markets in Bangladesh was commissioned by the Swiss Cooperation Office/Swiss Embassy in Dhaka in consultation with other development partners and conducted by a team of international and Bangladeshi experts of iDE Bangladesh in summer 2013. The study assesses the possibilities of applying a market development approach to assure access of poor Bangladeshi citizens to improved drinking water. It provides an updated over-view on the obstacles to safe drinking water supply – including arsenic contamination – for the and recommendations on how to connect public goods to private service delivery through innovation and inclusive business.
