With a view to assess the appropriateness and feasibility of a Local Economic Development (LED) intervention under the Rural Market Development portfolio of Switzerland’s country program Bangladesh, an external study was mandated by the Swiss Cooperation Of-fice/Embassy of Switzerland in Dhaka in summer 2011. The review was undertaken by a team of international and Bangladeshi experts. The ex-change with the experts and the commissioned report have enriched and supported the SDC team’s reflection on LED in Bangladesh and was useful for the further development of the Rural Market Development portfolio.
