(Allemand)
The project Sustainable Solutions for the Delivery of Safe Drinking Water has been implemented on behalf of SDC by the local organization Development Association for Self-Reliance, Communication and Health (DASCOH) from January 2009 through December 2012 with a budget of CHF 3.55 million. The end-of-phase review was conducted by a team of experts from India and Bangladesh in July 2012 upon mandate by the Swiss Cooperation Office/Swiss Embassy in Dhaka. The review team has assessed the project’s relevance and performance from the perspective of results achievement and project management as entirely satisfactory. The results reported by the project team based on a compelling logical framework with clear indicators are judged to be credible. The claimed outcomes in the fields of improved access to water and sanitation services as well as improved hygiene practices of poor people and improved community management of drinking water infrastructure in the four targeted districts in Northern Bangladesh are assessed to be credible. The project is found to make a considerable contribution to the overall achievement of the Local Governance portfolio under the Swiss Cooperation Strategy Bangladesh. The review team offers useful recommendations for a possible up-scaling and replication of the intervention with a clearer focus on the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management.
