The impact on traffic of two usage scenarios concerning automated driving in Switzerland will be developed in the project. For this purpose agent-based modelling (MATSim) will be employed to describe the passenger and freight transport in time steps of 2020, 2030, 2040 and 2050. The change in capacities on the road network due to automated driving will be estimated and the impacts on bottlenecks will be analysed. Therefore the following subtasks are provided:
- Step 1: Scenario coordination with other subprojects
- Step 2: Description and implementation of the scenarios
- Step 3: Estimation of the expected capacity changes due to automated driving
- Step 4: Development of the experimental design for the simulations, technical implementation
- Step 5: Analysis of the scenarios regarding transport demand
- Step 6: Utilization of the road infrasctructure and cost efficiency for national roads and roads in urban space
- Step 7: Second implementation of the updated scenarios
- Step 8: Recommendations for action, documentation and project completion
