Description succincte (Anglais)

The subject of this evaluation are SECO WE projects1 in the area of energy-efficient cities. By “energy efficiency” SECO WE understands producing, transmitting and using energy in the most efficient, effective and sustainable way. SECO WE promotes energy-efficient cities in the frame of the target outcome “low-emission and climate-resilient economies” in the Swiss Mes-sage on International Cooperation 2017 – 20202. SECO WE thus responds to an international situation, in which the energy issue is more relevant than ever, as countries need to match two key targets: a reliable and affordable power supply for their economic and social development and a climate friendly energy production and use. The lack of reliable and clean energy infra-structure is a global issue with the increase of the world population, the rapid urbanization process and the change and progress in society (e.g. electrical appliances for private and for industrial use). Finally, new trends in the mobility sector contribute to a growing demand for additional power supply. Energy thus occupies the top positions on international agendas.
