Micro-CHP boiler, Wood burner, Stirling engine, comparative study
Description succincte
(Anglais)
The project aims to review the state of the art of wood burner technologies applied to micro-cogeneration Stirling engines, in order to identify possible critical aspects inherent to this fuel. Another objective is the evaluation of the potential and compatibility of a new wood burner applied to Stirling engines. Finally, the purpose is also to perform a coarse evaluation of the economic viability of a wood burner applied to a Stirling engine.
Description succincte
Rapport final
(Anglais)
This report aims at reviewing the state of the art of Stirling engine micro-CHP wood burners, with the aim of identifying the potentially critical aspects inherent to this fuel, and to evaluate succinctly the technologies proposed by the companies. Carboforce (which proposes a new type of wood burner emitting very small quantities of gaseous and particulate pollutants), and Rudolf Schmid (which proposes a new free piston Stirling engine, freed from some of the disadvantages of its predecessors). Another objective of this report is to provide an assessment of the potential and compatibility of new wood burners for this application. Finally, this report carries out a succinct economic pre-study to evaluate the economic viability of such a product. According to the study, a combination of the technologies of Rudolf Schmid SA and Carboforce Sàrl could be promising.
Rapport final
