HCs were also recently encountered unexpectedly during the drilling of a geothermal exploration well in St Gallen. This study aims to evaluate the bearing of the occurrence of active petroleum systems on the geothermal energy potential and to develop a map that can help future geothermal drilling to plan for, predict and/or avoid encountering hydrocarbons.
