Qvanteq AG (Zurich, Switzerland; ETH Spinoff) has developped a proprietary coating-free surface technology for vascular stents (small metal mesh tubes, implanted into blood vessels to restore blood flow). The anti-thrombotic properties of a surface-treated stent promisses clinical advantages for patients and healthcare payers as it potentially reduces magnitude and duration of post-intervention anti-coagulant drug therapies and cumbersome re-interventions
