Abstract (Deutsch)

Stroke is a leading cause of disability, affecting 17 millions of people every year. 30% of the stroke cases result in a permanent disability of the upper limbs. Unfortunately, there are currently no effective means to treat severely paralyzed patients. Intento is developing a device for treating arm paralysis based on functional electrical stimulation. In collaboration with UNIL, we aim at better understanding the mechanisms behind recovery induced by the device to improve its efficacy.
