T-2017-015 Imaging for diagnosis and treatment-monitoring of chronic wounds

Abstract (German)

Herein we propose repurposing a technology used in skin cancer diagnosis to address the growing problem of chronic wound management. Chronic wounds (wounds present after 3 months treatment) are usually infected and are treated firstly with topical antimicrobials/antibiotics and then oral antibiotics following a fixed regimen. The proposed technology would allow centres of microbial infection to be instantly pinpointed and treatment to be more effectively monitored for personalised regimens
