Abstract

We propose to study, develop and manufacture a REconfiGUrable LAparoscopic Tool, REGULATe, a handheld, motorized reconfigurable shaft for minimally invasive surgical tools. This reconfigurable shaft prototype will produce both soft and stiff mode that will reshape depending on the procedure and the patient and keep the position locked during the high-force demanding operations.
