We propose to investigate novel concepts for introducing a tailored layer in a ski construction, that would produce an unsymmetrical response in the bending mode. The aim is to enhance manoeuvrability of the ski by easier bending in turns, while increasing stability by limiting reverse bending, hence comfort and control. The innovation and challenge is to develop a composite layer with precisely tailored mechanical stiffness that can be directly integrated during the ski manufacturing stage.
