Bacterial infections especially biofilm triggered infections cause tremendous health problems in humans due to contaminated medical applications. Therefore, it is highly desirable to develop ?antimicrobial? devices. Employing parylene (para-xylene) coatings in combination with antimicrobial active GaIII could meet new applications as antibacterial surfaces. The antimicrobial efficacy of the obtained coatings will be demonstrated in vitro for medical devices applications such as implants.
