Advanced Mechanical Analysis Development for High Performance Diesel Engines

Abstract (German)

The project is proposed to develop an advanced mechanical analysis methodology for the design of high performance diesel engines to further improve performance, efficiency and reliability without excessive conservatism. Cast iron cylinder heads are critical components, being susceptible to both high cyclic firingpressure and thermo-mechanical fatigue loading. Being able to optimise the design of such parts in the shortest possible development timescale, primarily by employing internal LMB expertise is the main goal of the project.
