Unbreakable cables & connectors for improved lifetime of electronic devices

Abstract (German)

In the area of audio portable electronic devices, electrical failure is a major issue occuring systematically on connectors and cables of earphones/headphones as a consequence of repetitive mechanical stress. Working earphones are regularly disposed because cables or connectors are partly broken, affecting negatively the sound quality in the one or two ears. Based on our expertise in stretchable electronics, we intend to develop novel reinforced electrical cables and connectors to multiply lifetime of devices such as earphones/headphones by a factor 10.
