This project aims to derive a novel live position monitoring system for an established ophthalmic surgery laser by Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems AG. We propose to detect eye movement and motion error by real-time measurements using live optical coherence tomography. A robust algorithm will be developed for automatic detection based on image recognition. This novel approach will ensure a faster, more precise and safer patient outcome as well as enable new clinical applications.
