Pro Jahr erhalten nur 10% der Patienten, die aufgrund von Diabetes nierentransplantiert werden, eine zusätzliche Pankreas- oder Inselzelltransplantation zur Verbesserung des Diabetes. Die Inseltransplantation wird aufgrund von viel weniger Komplikationen die Pankreastransplantation ablösen und die Anzahl erhöhen, sobald sie gleich wirksam ist. Dies Erreichen wir mit unseren hierfür entwickelten Zellkulturplatten, welche wir im KTI-Projekt mit humanen Inseln charakterisieren.
