Abstract (German)

Diabetes is a worldwide epidemic. The global insulin delivery devices market was valued $8.8bn in 2012 and is forecasted to grow by a CAGR of 7% to $14bn until 2019. 80% of patients use disposable insulin pens lacking data recording capability. SMARTCAP records dose / time of injections automatically without user input. Wireless data transfer helps caretakers and patients to improve treatment. Dangerous dosing errors will be recognized and alerted.
