Alternative materials and manufacturing processes for load-bearing structures used in the power industry are proposed for study.  This project is requested by IP in response to recent problems regarding inconsistent component quality purchased from external suppliers, a potential future ban in the EU on hazardous substances currently used, and impending need for improved mechanical properties.  New production line for critical component is to be designed and tested.
