Description succincte
(Anglais)
A pilot study for the further development of a natural food ingredient to support regenerative sleep
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Allemand)
In preclinical studies, selected plant extracts are evaluated in vitro as potent 5-HT2A receptor antagonists. We will investigate 3 medicinal plants used traditionally for treatment of insomnia. Their binding affinities for GABAA and 5-HT2A will be evaluated. Knowing the precise mechanism of how these extracts function and at what molecular targets they act will give us insights into how to develop better sleep aids based on the natural products in the future.
