Direct fastening in concrete by nail setting is a crucial process in the construction industry but with high failure rates because no marketed device can minimize the failure probability by pre-suggesting whether or not and how to perform the setting at a given location. We aim at developing and implementing into a prototype ancillary device a methodology for (a) sensing the local concrete properties and (b), based upon them, supporting a optimal decision about the setting.
