We have recently identified, using a drug-screening platform, a number of molecules that stimulate the activity of astrocytes, a type of glial cells that supports neuronal metabolism. These drugs, which improve neuronal survival and activity, are of particular interest for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. Most promising compounds are tested in a mouse model of ALS, as well as cognition/memory. The most effective candidates - whether neuroprotective or cognitive enhancers - will be patented and will represent the core of our Start-up pipeline
