Dual comb spectroscopy is a novel technology which samples and compresses an optical band over several|microns down to the electronic GHz baseband, suitable for full electronic processing. Key to this technology is|the dual comb source for the specific optical band. This project develops the technology for a mid-IR (6 to 8um) dual comb source based on a quantum cascade laser pair. Dual comb spectroscopy in this optical band will enable hyperspectral imaging by scan of cancer cells, real time environmental monitoring and real time steering of chemical processes.
