Abstract (English)

The aim of this CTI project is to develop formula of affordable mild chemicals for disinfection of medical devices from lethal prion infection. Current anti-prion methods are either unrationally expensive or cause damage of delicate surfaces. Detailed research of mild cleaners was previously limited by the low throughput of prion infectivity bioassays. The Institute of Prof. Aguzzi recently developed a new high-throughput in vitro infectivity assay ideal for such screening.
