Self-decalcifying coatings for heating elements
Résumé des résultats (Abstract)
(Allemand)
The prevention of mineral fouling, known as scale, is a long-standing problem in many industrial applications. The build-up of calcium carbonate on surfaces is undesirable and causes many technological and every-day issues. To date the overwhelming amount of research has focused on chemical inhibition of scale precipitation and little attention has been paid to deposition onto surfaces. This project intends to develop surfaces that shed scale layers once a certain thickness has been reached.
