The development of an ultra-low power system for heart-monitoring electronics is today of great interest from the industrial points of view. Recently, a new CMOS photo detector with positive feedback has been developed. The main advantage of this device is its ability to convert light into time directly (digital output) without any processing. This characteristic helps to reduce drastically the power consumption
