Kurzbeschreibung
(Englisch)

The Swiss Centre for Applied Human Toxicology (SCAHT) is the first and only centre dedicated to human toxicology in Switzerland.
It was founded with the vision of contributing to the creation of a safer and healthier environment by advancing the science of human toxicology.

The independent professionals affiliated to the SCAHT represent the great variety of scientists who practice applied human toxicology in Switzerland and abroad.

SCAHT has four core fields of activity:

  • Regulatory toxicology
It provides assessments of scientific data to support the federal and local authorities in their risk assessment and risk management decisions.
SCAHT provides foresight on new trends in applied human toxicology which may be incorporated into regulatory framework.

  • Applied research
It promotes applied research in human toxicology and facilitates cross-disciplinary information exchange.
It recognizes the importance of outreach and cooperation with other organizations with similar goals and actively seeks collaborations.

  • Education
It contributes to education in human toxicology and to the recruitment of students and new members into the profession.
It is committed to foster increased awareness and understanding of key toxicology issues by providing an open forum for public education through workshops, conferences and statements on emerging issues in the area of human safety.

  • Third party services
it provides independent toxicological services to support third parties in their risk assessment and risk management decisions related to human safety.
