Die Böschungen entlang von Verkehrsträgern sind wertvolle Lebensräume und Vernetzungsachsen für Tiere und Pflanzen. Diese wertvollen Böschungen werden jedoch in Bezug auf die dort vorkommende Fauna und Flora nicht optimal unterhalten. Mit dieser Studie untersuchen wir alternative Unterhaltsmethoden und prüfen ob diese ökologisch schonender und ökonomisch tragbar sind. Dazu werden auf je sieben Flächen vier verschiedene Unterhaltstechniken angewendet. Diese beinhalten Kombinationen von Schlegeln oder Mähen mit Absaugen wobei das Schnittgut vor dem Absaugen teilweise für mehrere Tage liegen gelassen wird. Untersucht wird dabei die Wirkung auf die Fauna und die Flora. Für die Fauna wird die Anzahl geschädigter Heuschrecken und Raupen mit Attrappen und an vor Ort vorhandenen Tieren ermittelt. Für die Flora werden die vorhandenen Samen nach dem Unterhalt mit Hilfe von Saugproben gezählt. Zusätzlich wird eine Kosten-Nutzen-Analyse der verschiedenen Unterhaltsmethoden gemacht. Aufgrund der Resultate werden Empfehlungen für den naturschonenden Unterhalt gemacht.

Verges along traffic infrastructure are valuable habitats and axis for dispersal of plant and animal species. However, pertaining to the occurring fauna and flora these verges are not optimally maintained. This study examines alternative maintenace methods and questions if they are ecologically better and economically acceptable. For that purpose, four different maintenance methods will be applied on seven plots each. The methods contain combinations of mowing or mulching with vegetation removal by suction after letting the cut grass lie for a few days or taking it away directly. The aim of the study is to analyse the effect on fauna and flora. To survey the effect on animals, the number of damaged grasshoppers and caterpillars will be studied on place. To survey the effect on the flora, the number of present seeds after the maintenance will be analysed using suction samples. Additionally, the maintenance methods will be subject of a cost-benefit-analysis.  Based on these results recommendations for a maintenance that preserves biodiversity will be given.

Durch einen Vergleich verschiedener Unterhalts-Methoden soll deren Wirkung auf die Flora und Fauna von Böschungen von Verkehrsanlagen ermittelt werden. Dadurch kann eine ökologisch und ökonomisch optimale Lösung für die Pflege von Wiesen an Strassen- und Bahnböschungen gefunden werden. Es werden Empfehlungen für den naturschonenden Unterhalt und Anpassungen entsprechender Normen gegeben.

This project compares the influence of different maintenance methods on flora and fauna of verges along traffic infrastructure. Objective is to find an ecologically and economically optimal solution for the maintenance of grasslands along roads and railways. Recommendations for a maintenance that preserves biodiversity will be given and the necessary adaptations of the corresponding norms will be given.
