COST-Action IS1401 - Strengthening Europeans' Capabilities by Establishing the European Literacy Network
Description succincte
(Anglais)
Until now, little attention has been paid to literacy skills important for entrepreneurship, especially as migrants represent an important pool of potential entrpreneurs. The project focuses on reading and writing skills related to entrepreneurship. Given the fact that a significant number of Vocational Education and Training students have a migrant and/or linguistically diverse background, the project concentrates on VET graduates active in the field of microbusiness. It aims to give a linguistic description of genres and text patterns that occur within the process of the foundation and running a company. It uses a corpus-driven methodology with an emphasis on n-gramms/chunks, key words, text procedures and registers. The description of genres and their linguistic parameters should answer the question what reading and writing skills future entrepreneurs need and lead to conclusions regarding the teaching of entrepreneurship related writing skills. The project results will be disseminated in the framework of entrepreneurship education programs. They will also be useful in the context of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VET, PET). The European Literacy Network will serve not only as an ideal international dissemination platform but also as a forum for exchanging ideas, know-how and research practices.
