In einem angewandten Forschungsprojekt planen wir, umfassende Informationen über Wildtierunfälle sowie Präventionsmassnahmen in den Schweizer Kantonen zusammenzutragen, zu analysieren und mit internationalen Erfahrungen zu ergänzen. Diese Analyse dient uns als Basis, um den Einsatz von Präventionsmassnahmen von Wildtierunfällen in der Schweiz zu optimieren. Das geplante Projekt umfasst drei Hauptschritte: 1. Auslegeordnung: Daten über Wildtierunfälle und Präventionsmassnahmen aus den Kantonen sowie der weltweiten Literatur zusammentragen und analysieren, 2. Analyse und Modell: Faktoren, die zu Wildtierunfällen führen, identifizieren, analysieren und das Wildtierunfallpotential flächig modellieren, 3. Umsetzung in die Praxis: Handlungsanleitung für die situationsbezogene Prävention von Wildtierunfällen erstellen.
Dieses Projekt liefert ein Instrument, um das Risiko für Wildtierunfälle situationsgerecht zu entschärfen. Die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse dienen der Aktualisierung und Ergänzung der VSS Normen Fauna und Verkehr; Schutzmassnahmen SN 640 694, Wildzäune SN 640 693a sowie Faunaanalysemethoden SN 640 692. Mit der Integration der Erkenntnisse in die Normen und der Anwendung der Handlungsanleitung in der Praxis, werden die Verkehrssicherheit erhöht, Kosten gespart sowie Menschen und Tiere besser vor Kollisionen und deren negativen Folgen geschützt.

In an applied research project, we plan to collect and analyse broad information on wildlife accidents as well as prevention methods in the Swiss cantons and on international prevention experiences, respectively. These analyses serve as a basis for optimising the use of methods to prevent wildlife accidents in Switzerland. The planned project contains three main steps: 1.Overview on the current situation: Collect and analyse data about wildlife accidents and prevention methods from the cantons as well as from the worldwide literature, 2.Analysis and model : identify and analyse factors that explain the occurrence of wildlife accidents and model the risk of wildlife accidents, 3.Transfer to management: generate an instructions manual for situation-based prevention of wildlife accidents.
This project provides an instrument to mitigate the risk of wildlife accidents based on the local situation. Our results serve to update and complement the VSS norms fauna and traffic; protection measures SN 640 694, wildlife fences SN 640 693a and the fauna analysis methods SN 640 692. By integrating the study results in the norms and applying the instructions manual in practice, road safety will be improved, costs reduced and humans and animals will be better protected against collisions and their serious consequences.

Das Ziel dieser Studie ist das bessere Verständnis der Faktoren, die zu Wildtierunfällen auf Strassenverkehrsinfrastrukturen führen. Dazu werden die bestehenden Unfalldaten analysiert und das räumlich-zeitliche Verteilungsmuster von Wildtierunfällen sowie die direkten und indirekten Begleitfaktoren ermittelt. Anhand einer umfassenden Recherche werden ausserdem erfolgreiche bzw. vielversprechende Präventionsmassnahmen identifiziert. Es soll ein Katalog von Präventionsmassnahmen erstellt werden, der auch Informationen zur Wirkung sowie zum Aufwand für Material, Installation und Wartung enthält. Dieses Projekt liefert ein Instrument, um das Risiko für Wildtierunfälle situationsgerecht zu entschärfen. Unser Ziel ist es, die Verkehrssicherheit zu erhöhen und die durch Wildtierunfälle entstehenden ökonomischen Kosten zu reduzieren.

This study aims at better understanding the factors that explain the occurrence of wildlife accidents on road transport infrastructure. We will use existing data to analyse distribution patterns of wildlife accidents in space and time. Direct and indirect factors affecting accident risk will be identified. Successful and promising prevention methods will be identified in an extensive investigation. The aim is to generate a catalogue of prevention methods that includes information on the effect of the methods as well as the costs for material, installation and service. This project will provide a situation-based instrument to mitigate the risk of wildlife accidents. Our goal is to increase the road safety and to reduce the economic costs due to wildlife accidents.
