Drug Delivering Biomaterial for Dental Bone Repair

Abstract (German)

Dental implants are the state of the art in restorative dentistry. Nevertheless, 10% of the implanted patients suffer from peri-implantitis, an infectious disease of tissues surrounding the dental implant which can lead to implant loss. Current treatment options are limited, therefore we propose ZolidBone, a new, drug-eluting biomaterial for the repair of peri-implantitis-caused bone defects that efficiently prevents further bone loss and promotes tissue mineralization.
