T-2015-011: Carbon Fibre-Based Composites with Mechano-Responsive Properties
Abstract
(English)
The Adolphe Merkle Institute (AMI) and Huntsman Advanced Materials will collaborate to develop carbon fibre-reinforced composites that become fluorescent after mechanical stimulation, serving as a powerful tool to detect barely visible impact damage. The project will evaluate the feasibility of the self-reporting technology developed at AMI in the context of Huntsman?s composite resin systems. The utilisation of these novel self-reporting composites in high performance equipment is envisaged.
