Wood surface modification for UV protection and water repellency in indoor applications
Abstract
(Deutsch)
UV radiation deteriorates the aesthetical appearance of wood by decomposing wood polymers at its surface. A technology for wood surface modification based on Layer-by-Layer deposition (LbL) has been adapted to wood and further developed, which results both in UV protection and water repellency with a nearly invisible surface coating. It is intended to up-scale the invention for a variety of wood species in the portfolio of the implementation partner for various indoor wood applications.
