Worldwide, 5 million breast biopsies are performed every year causing discomfort and complications for the patients. A novel micro- biopsy needle will harvest tissue samples tumours more easily, without anesthetics and pain ¿ like a vaccination. These samples can be used for standard diagnostics (i.e. conventional histology, special stains, immunohistochemistry), molecular analysis (in situ hybridization, polymerase chain reaction) and other novel techniques, such as ARTIDIS and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
