Most dive mechanical watches use photo-luminescent materials to illuminate the watch elements with a light intensity that usually decreases with time. The aim of this project is to develop a new solution based on LEDs combined with mechanical power generation, in order to generate a constant light intensity during a diving session. This will enable Officine Panerai to gain a competitive advantage with respect to its competitors and to enable new opportunities to strengthen employment in-house and, potentially, along the whole specialized Swiss value chain.
