High efficiency heating methods will be evaluated for manufacturing of PEEK/carbon fibre tapes via wet impregnation. Currently, the drying and melting stages in this process are achieved primarily by infrared and convection, respectively, limiting production capacity and requiring a substantial installation footprint. Novel heating methods such as laser, infrared, microwave, and induction will be assessed to increase production speed and substantially reduce the total length of production line.
