Glaucoma is a leading cause of blindness affecting more than 60 million people worldwide. All current glaucoma drainage devices are passive, providing no flow control on drainage rate and suffering high complication rates (>30%). The scientific and technical challenge of the current is to create implantable devices, which allow adjusting eye pressure precisely and on a per-patient basis, thereby reducing complications and offering best clinical outcomes.
