Description succincte (Anglais)

This research was initiated with the objective of developing a procedure to determine the extreme floods that are of relevance to dams, as well as of performing case studies. Three distinct aspects are being treated in parallel. One aspect deals with the numerical simulation of the timewise development of a meteorological situation and of the issuing rainfall. Another aspect is that of the determination of the hydrographs at the entrance of the reservoir which correspond to the rainfall calculated previously. The last aspect deals with the determination of the consequences of the predicted flood on the reservoir-dam system and with the determination of the most critical situations that can arise in a given reservoir-dam system.
This project addresses the first issue.

Développement des concepts permettant de déterminer la crue extrême affectant une retenue en Suisse, avec applications. Recherche divisée en trois volets:
(a) Modèle numérique de précipitations à partir d'une situation météorologique donnée, classement des situations météo avec leurs conséquences au niveau des précipitations.
(b) Détermination des débits.
(c) Définition des situations critiques en fonction des caractéristiques des aménagements (réservoirs).
Ce projet traite le volet (a).
