Abstract (German)	The PearlScan project will develop an instrument that caters to the classification and sorting needs of the\|global pearl industry in an automatic manner. This instrument will quickly count and measure the dimensions\|of large quantities of pearls. Since the value of a pearl is determined by its size, it is vital for the pearl industry\|to have an efficient and reliable tool to measure their stocks. There is no comparable product in this billion\|dollar industry.
