Compressors for fuel cells and other applications compete in price, size and efficiency. High-speed turbo compressors perform best in terms of size and efficiency; however there is big potential in reducing cost and size of the power electronics. Therefore, this project targets trade-off analysis for cost, efficiency and power density and experimental verification of inverters and frequency converters for high-speed turbo compressors.
