The objective of UltraCeal, a Swiss-Swedish collaboration between 5 world-leading institutes (EPFL, INNVENTIA) and companies (STORA ENSO, ROLIC, EXEGER) is to develop novel bio-based materials with exceptional gas-barrier and optical performance and their roll-to-roll process method for encapsulation of solar cells and OLED. The Swiss partners EPFL and ROLIC will develop multilayer films based on cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) and inorganic or hybrid coatings and ROLIC will produce OLED demonstrators.
