The Swiss Living Challenge (SLC) is the project being developed for the United States Department of Energy Solar Decathlon-2017 competition within a consortium of four Swiss universities: The École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg (HEIA-FR) as core partners, in collaboration with the University of Fribourg (UNI-FR) and the Geneva University of Art and Design (HEAD). The project is led by EPFL, a research university founded by the Swiss Federal Government. The structure of the organization and its extensive network of partners provide EPFL all the requirements to develop an ambitious project for the competition.

The Swiss team and their solar house, the NeighborHub, won the prestigious Solar Decathlon 2017 competition in the Unites States. The Swiss Living Challenge and its multidisciplinary team - 4 schools, 250 students (44 in Denver), 150 supervisors from the professional and academic sectors, and close to 50 sponsors - culminated with the highest award. This unique experience is not only an important victory, but also an unforgettable and educational human adventure.
