The Horn of Africa Project: Repositioning Regional Relations Through Integration is the phase four of the Horn of Africa Project. It will analyze the repositioning of regional relations through integration and competition, regional diplomacy and bilateral relations, as well as emerging external relations with the region as a result of integration. Research, analysis and outreach aim to identify specific ways in which regional and international actors can support integration and cooperation towards addressing the region's political, security and developmental challenges. The project aims at improving Swiss and international policy making towards the Horn of Africa and provides Switzerland with access to quality academic material and the opportunity for regular policy briefings by the Chatham House team in Switzerland or abroad.

In regard of its involvement in the Horn of Africa, HSD needs to consider the specific ways in which it can support Integration and cooperation towards addressing the region's political, security and development challenges. The Swiss actors in the Horn of Africa obtain a deepened analysis of the above mentioned thematic areas which will permit to adjust the Swiss lines of engagement to the ever changing political Situation.

The project will enhance regional and international engagement on the politics and processes of Integration.

The project will further deepen knowledge of the role and influence played by an emerging number of external partners in the Horn of Africa on the Integration agenda, with opportunities identified for the triangulation of engagements with Western policymakers towards regional Integration.

The project will also create sustainable relationships and Start a more consultative approach on Integration by drawing governments, institutions, civil society actors and communities together through the research process. Such relationships are critical to reducing conflict and instability and moving towards Integration.

Finally, the project will contribute to improved human capacity in the region, through the active engagement of local actors and Institutions through seminars, meeting exchanges, research and publications, and the dissemination of Outputs.
