Global Study 1325 on Women, peace and security
Short description
(English)

Despite many achievements and massive lobbying for women inclusion by UN Women and others, women inclusion and gender issues are still not seen as a 'MUST HAVE" part of peace negotiations and their implementation by most conflict parties and mediators. A central problem is the lack of practical knowledge about the functioning and impact of inclusion on peace processes. Hence, negotiations and peace processes are too often designed on the basis of untested hypothèses or normative biases instead of solid evidence-based findings.

Project aims
(English)
The objective of this consultancy is to support the transfer of the research results of the "broader participation project" (a basic research project, initiated and co-funded by Switzerland) to enrich the Global Study 1325 on Women Peace and Security. The consultant will produce a sound evidence base which will feed into the next SG Report examining the implementation of resolution 1325. This SG Report forms the basis for the upcoming high level review of SC Resolution 1325 in October 2015. A number of papers and inputs will be drafted and policy events prepared. The purpose of the consultancy is to have a flexible fund to recruit gender experts to help enrich the research policy transfer and better contextualize the results within the debate on 1325.
